Challenge
The Aspire Young Persons Centre is the first centre of its kind in Great Yarmouth to provide accommodation and support to young, homeless people. The Benjamin Foundation required a launch event to thank partners and raise awareness of the project, whilst capturing the essence of Aspire.
Solution
Activities were agreed with Great Yarmouth Borough Council and The Benjamin Foundation to demonstrate how an historic building has been lovingly brought back to life to help young people.
Presentation boards highlighted the conservation of the building. And all visitors received information packs telling the story of how Aspire is transforming lives.
BBC Radio Norfolk interviewed residents in front of the audience to illustrate how the centre is making a difference.
Result
The event was a great success, with 85 guests and local media attending.
Aspire was hailed as a ‘unique and remarkable achievement’ in the media, with positive coverage reaching more than 250,000 people through online, print and broadcast channels. Each young person received a round of applause after speaking and audio from the interviews were added to BBC Radio Norfolk’s website.
Matt Garrod from The Benjamin Foundation adds:
“I have felt very supported and reassured since we have had your experience and expertise on board. I have received nothing but positive statements from partner agencies, trustees and friends throughout the week. I received a lovely email from our principle funders, congratulating us on the success of the day.
Trustees felt the day had been a great success and was a very good representation of our ethos and style of work. Also really importantly the young people enjoyed it, had fun and felt fully involved.”
